Is Football At Risk?

Read these statements from the Big 10.

“… By limiting competition to other Big Ten institutions, the Conference will have the greatest flexibility to adjust its own operations throughout the season and make quick decisions in real-time based on the most current evolving medical advice and the fluid nature of the pandemic.”

“As we continue to focus on how to play this season in a safe and responsible way, based on the best advice of medical experts, we are also prepared not to play in order to ensure the health, safety and wellness of our student-athletes should the circumstances so dictate,” the Big Ten statement said.

As a fan of the Big Ten I love this. As a fan of College Football I hate this.

The Pandemic will just no go away. I have said a thousand times that I can handle this if we don’t loose football.

Now as of right now football seems like it will happen but, the numbers of the virus are rising and there are people out there that refuse to understand that there are things they can do to stop the spread.

The Ivy league has already cancelled their sports for the fall, and now you have some NFL players saying that the league is not taking the risk seriously.  We also have the NFL asking for some Money back from the players to put in escrow. In theory that is not a bad idea, it will help with the cap in 2021 but the players are not going to give up any money. Which I think is okay for them to do.

I just fear that we are hurdling toward a MLB money argument and loosing football of at all levels.
